John de Wilde immediately makes a good impression in Zolder!

Updated: May 11

• John de Wilde winner in the Cup Division

• Perfect score for Alexander Goddijn in Clubsport Division

With two Sprint races of 30 minutes and a Long Race of 55 minutes on the program, there was a lot to admire in Zolder. The three races of the Porsche Sprint Trophy Benelux could therefore be called quite eventful!

If a winner in the Cup Division has to be announced after this weekend, that honor will certainly go to John de Wilde. As expected, the Speedlover Porsche driver was invariably at the forefront. With his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 991 Gen II, he took second place in the first race, and in the second sprint race de Wilde took the victory. Despite a contact with Lucas van Eijndhoven (JW Raceservice), he was able to use the many racing incidents in the Long Race to score again. A good thing, which puts him in the lead in the championship with 40 points.

Behind him it was a weekend of ups and downs for quite a few other participants. Especially for the Speedlover duo Rik Renmans and Wim Meulders. Meulders managed to claim fourth place in the first sprint, but Renmans had to give up in the second. By crossing the line third in the Long Race, Wim Renmans now takes second place in the standings with 30 points.

Régis Gosselin made his appearance at the wheel of the 911 GT3 Cup 991 Gen I from the workshops of August Racing, and immediately proved that he still has excellent adaptability. Race after race, he improved his results: seventh in the first sprint, then fifth and finally second in the Long Race. Together good for a third place in the championship, with 28.5 points.

In the Clubsport Division, Alexander Goddijn (Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport) towered above everyone else. The Team GP Elite rider set a clear weekend, scoring three wins in three races. Of course Goddijn is also first in the first standings, with 42 points behind his name.

On his debut Benjamin Paque (Speedlover) performed very well, finishing third in the first sprint and in the Long Race. The 16-year-old kart is thus in second place in the championship, 11 points behind the leader. Harold Goddijn sees his regularity rewarded with the third position in the first standings of the season, with a total of 27 points.

The participants in the Porsche Sprint Trophy Benelux are now focusing on the next meeting, which will be held on 22 and 23 May at the Zandvoort Circuit.
